In Mexico, half of the population still saves money at home due to mistrust in financial institutions — unaware of how much they lose to inflation.

So we reinvented one of Mexico’s most iconic savings symbols: the traditional piggy bank. We removed the slot and integrated Nu’s app through a QR code, allowing users to move their savings to a digital space where their money can actually grow.

That’s how we turned a long-standing tradition into a symbol of change.

The “Coinless Piggy Bank” was so successful that it was showcased during Mexico’s National Financial Education Week, where we invited attendees to break away from traditional saving habits — sparking a cultural shift in how Mexicans think about saving through the redesign of an iconic object.

We even received recognition from key figures within Mexico’s political and financial sectors.
